Hey Strawberrys,
I am new here as well. From what I understand about the HBO Gia movie the 'Linda' character was actually a combo of two people in Gia's life. One was Sandy Linter famous make-up artist, she did gia's makeup alot. The other person was gia's lover named "Rochelle" in the book 'Thing of Beauty'. Rochelle's real name though was Elyssa Golden and she passed away in 1994 from AIDS. Hope this helps!

Sometimes I wonder if Rochelle had survived if she would have posted on this board. Would she have told stories about Gia and did she truly love her ?? In E! True Hollywood Story Gia's brother Michael said Rochelle had offered him heroin once but he said not for me.. They were on-again and off-again lovers for a few years. Also Rochelle was bi-sexual. I wonder if Rochelle contracted Aids through drug use with Gia. But of course this should not matter because they both lost their young lives to this horrific disease.

I believe the movie was not a reliable source of information on Gia; the book is far better. I don't recall reading anything about Gia carving her name into Willie's desk with her knife when she was first meeting the legendary modeling agent. Angelina was terrific in the role, I met her here in NYC briefly while she was reading the script, I just can't stand how Hollywood has to embellish when Gia was rebellious and different enough without adding stupidities to the film. The story was strong enough on its own.
